How to Choose a Wedding Planner: Part 2

The traditional month of weddings, June is just around the corner and whether your reserved date is in June or you’ve only just become engaged and don’t even have a date set, you know that planning a wedding is a lot of work. There are so many details to consider, so many essential elements, any of which can set the day on its head if they go wrong. Your choice of a wedding planner itself can fate your wedding to success or disaster. We’ve put together a short list of things to consider when interviewing wedding planners.

  1. What is the range of their services? Do they plan the entire event or are they more the day-of manager. You want a full-service planner for your wedding since so many of the elements of a wedding need to put into place months ahead of time and there is quite a bit of ahead of time logistics no matter the scale of your wedding.
  2. Are they local to your venue? If your planner is an old college friend from out of town, she or he is unlikely to have the connections to get things together smoothly and at the best prices. A local planner has a network to utilize on your behalf.
  3. Do they communicate in a timely, efficient friendly manner? If you have to track down your potential planner or they are late to their initial meeting, you should keep looking. If their emails or texts are not in a professional voice, I’d keep looking. You are not looking for your next best friend; you need a professional to plan one of the biggest days of your life.
