How do you keep a social event from feeling flat?
Give guests reasons to move. Bars, food, entertainment, seating, and activations should pull people into different parts of the room instead of creating one crowd at the entrance. As a working guideline, a bar serving more than about 75 guests can quickly become a bottleneck, and multiple focal points help spread the crowd. Sound matters too. Staffing should be based on the event format, guest experience, venue layout, and level of service— not simply the number of attendees. Passed receptions, seated dinners, bars, coat check, and guest check-in each require different staffing considerations. The goal is to ensure every service area has enough coverage to maintain smooth operations, minimize wait times, and provide a seamless guest experience.

Catering, bar programs, staffing, AV, photography, and entertainment all run through EMRG Media’s in-house team and its vendor network, coordinated by one producer.
How much should I plan for guests to drink at a social event?
Plan on 2 drinks per guest in the first hour and 1 per hour after that, so a 3-hour reception for 100 guests needs roughly 400 drinks. Split it about 50 percent wine, 30 percent spirits, and 20 percent beer for a mixed crowd, and add a non-alcoholic option that is not just soda, since 15 to 20 percent of a typical room is not drinking.
