A hidden gem in the city that never sleeps, SPiN, is the place to go for street art, good food, cocktails, and Ping-Pong.
SPiN's flagship location in New York City became the city's only Ping-Pong social club with its opening in the summer of 2009. Owners Jonathan Bricklin, Franck Raharinosy and Academy award-winning actress Susan Sarandon combined an unusual mixture of sport, design and entertainment to create a unique day and nighttime activity for casual and serious players alike.
The idea stemmed from the 2007 Friday night Ping-Pong parties, known as “Naked Ping-Pong,” hosted by Bricklin and Raharinosy in a Tribeca loft. News traveled quickly and soon hundreds of people were attending the parties. Artists, models, celebrities, collared workers and even professional Ping Pong players were coming together in the name of Ping-Pong. Sarandon, an avid lover of the sport, attended one of the parties and became intrigued by the concept of a diverse crowd coming together and fueling the energy. From there on, SPiN opened in New York and expanded to San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles and Toronto.
There's nothing like a little friendly competition to get the party started. Ping-Pong at SPiN is the perfect icebreaker and conversation starter at corporate holiday parties, team building events, date night, Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties, Mitzvah's and birthdays. With multiple rooms that can be booked separately or in conjunction with each other, SPiN can accommodate a wide range of event sizes. This unique venue’s appeal doesn’t simply end with ping pong, the venue itself is decked out with trendy street art. The installations include murals from local street artists, such as UR New York, Jose Aurelio Baez, Dasic Fernandez, Okuda, and customized Ping-Pong tables by artist Tripp.
Aside from that, SPiN also offers an extensive menu, comprised of flatbread pizzas, milkshakes, salads, appetizers, sliders, desserts and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. There’s plenty delicious food and beverage options to satisfy your guests after they work up an appetite playing an intense game of ping pong. SPiN's event team will work with you to create the perfect custom menu that all your guests will love.
The recent growth of an iconic Ping-Pong culture, lifestyle and movement, has redefined the game to know no boundaries. It's a sport that connects people regardless of age, gender or background. It's about having fun, not taking life too seriously, making connections and embracing contradictions. Professional players, ranging from former Olympians and national champions to models and rappers, are available for events and private and group lessons. They include international Ping-Pong champion and actress Soo Yeon Lee, celebrity table tennis pro/entertainer Wally Green, Swedish National Champion Malin, United States' and Japan's former number one defensive player Kaz, Olympian Lily Zhang and former professional table tennis player Suchy. Additionally, SPiN has become a prime destination for celebrities like Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, Hugh Jackman, Kim Kardashian and the late musician Prince. The New York venue has 17 Ping-Pong courts, a full bar, restaurant, pro-shop and private VIP room. SPiN is open to anyone and everyone during the day and 21 and above after 9 p.m.
Everyone is welcome at SPiN, where there is a movement to connect and unite people through Ping-Pong. SPiN has spread the joy of Ping-Pong to create a positive change in those who are less fortunate by donating over 60 Ping Pong tables to youth organizations in New York, Toronto, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Host your next event at SPiN for a memorable experience your guests will be raving about for years to come.
